Final Hair/Costume/Props and Makeup
These final ideas are not the actual clothes my models will be wearing but they will be similar in some way
The Reece
The Reece is a health and safety document and needs to be completed before taking my photos, it is for me to think about the dangers I need to avoid for myself and for my model. I have not thought about all the outcomes of the day I will take my photos due to the unreliable weather forecast and having to rely on my model to turn up to the photoshoot.

Contents Page-Draft 1
This is my First Draft of my Contents page, In class we got fellow students to give us ideas on what we can do to improve it in our following draft. Firstly some of the positive comments I received are about how the placement of my images are very good, the layout was impressive and how the detailed it was in terms of information. Paradoxically, some of the negative comments I have received are about how I need to use my own images and how I should use different fonts. I am planning on keeping it uniformed so I will not use different fonts. Next time I will use my own images.
Front Cover-Draft 1
This is my First Draft of my Front Cover, In class we got fellow students to give us ideas on what we can do to improve it in our following draft. Firstly some of the positive comments about my work is the Look and use of my own image and the font I used for the Masthead. Paradoxically, the negative comments I received where about how I have not finished it but also how the colours of my own image are too bright and other colours would not stand out from the rest of the article. In my next draft I will use another one of my own images that is not as bright and I will obviously finish it.
Survey
I have created a survey that shows what people will want from my magazine that will further encourage them to want to buy it more often. This will help when it comes to the final magazine draft because I will use this advice and it will then allow me to have more people wanting to buy it.
Target Audience Profiles
Creating these audience profiles have given me a good idea of what my audience are actually interested in and how likely people are to buy my magazine. I will take them into account when thinking about my target audience and my final magazine.
Facial Expressions
The presentation above shows my research on Millum and Ferguson and their facial expression theories. I could place this into my magazine to achieve high marks when creating my main task, I have learnt that different facial expressions are used to show different things. This will help me in my final product because I will know the tone of my magazine and the models facial expression will empathise that.
Generic Conventions
As my magazine is Pop/R&B, I will look at the conventions of each page of existing pop magazine that also feature R&B artists .
As pop is arguably the most popular genre, the front cover of pop magazines usually includes a very well known and current pop artist. Pop magazines usually do not include sub images on their front covers, this could be because the magazine wants all the focus to be on the featured artist shown on the front cover as they are likely to be very famous. They may feel like this artist is able to sell this magazine on their own without showing any others. The model usually covers the masthead of the magazine as well for the same reason. Magazines such as Billboard do this. They also tend to not have very bold sell lines, this could be so that they do not take away the attention from the model. Billboard in particular have a very clear colour scheme, which is different for each issue.
Institute Research
I researched different institutions that own music magazines and this is what I found. These companies would be my competition when I create my magazine. This research has helped me understand how music magazines work and which magazines make the most sales.
My Magazine Ideas
This task has helped me think about what I will be using in my magazine and gives me an idea of what it will look like. I have decided to go with the name Music-Nation and shorten it too MN, I have decided to go with this name because it makes the readers feel as if they are apart of something bigger and because music is apart of everyday life we rely on it make us feel certain emotions and this is why we are a nation dependent on music. My model will wear clothing that fits in with my genre of music, I have added images to illustrate the kinds of things these artists wear and my model will potentially take inspiration from that. I have decided to go with a serious font such as Times Roman because it makes my magazine have a more professional tone to it instead of something like comic sans which gives it a childish look.
Professional Magazines For Inspiration
Doing this task has allowed me to see what other professional magazines do on their individual sections of their magazines. This helps me because I can take inspiration from these magazines and potentially use some of their ideas or come up with my own ideas. For example, I will potentially, similar to the Billboard magazine, put a black box around writing and use a brighter colour to male it stand out more.
Magazine Deconstructions
Front cover
I have learned that all front covers have a dominant image that takes up most of the front cover. I have also learned that the logo must be placed at the top of the magazine and can be covered by the dominant image if it is a popular magazine. This will help with my final product because it shows the audience who the main person of the article will be.
Contents page
I have learned that the contents page must show the reader a further insight into what the rest of the magazine will be about. This will help with my final product because it gives the reader more reason to buy the magazine because there may be other people who feature in it who they like better
Double page spread
I have learned that Most double page spreads have a dominant image on one side and lots of text on the other side. This will help with my final product because I can have the model(s) on one side and text on the other side.

Music Mood Board
My mood board in based around the music genre of Pop and R&B and includes bands who fall in this category due to the type of music they produce. Creating my mood board has helped me a great deal as I have been able to choose the genre of music magazine which in turn has helped me pick the target audience. Furthermore, it has given me a idea of what bands to possibly include in my magazine.
College Magazine Drafts
Front Cover
For the front cover we decided to go for mid shot camera angles because it helped establish the area of the college and showed more in the photo as well as the models enjoying themselves. Next time I will use a different colours for the writing as it doesn't stand out from the rest of the front cover and isn't very eye catching, I will also add more sub lines onto it because it looks very bare and doesn't show much of what the article contains. However I do like how the dominant image is an establishing shot and shows the location of the college.
Contents Page
For the Contents page, we decided to use sub images standing out more than the dominant mage because it seemed more appealing and showed the facilities, but I will not do this for my magazine because I don't believe the sub-images should take the attention away from the dominant image.I do like how the contents section is all down one section of the magazine and has page numbers to show the readers where they can locate this art o the magazine.

Flat Plans
Front Cover-Flat Plan
I have learned the best layout for my magazine and how the dominant image must stand out the most as well as the mast head, I like how I have added only a small amount of sub-images so that the dominant image is still visible to the reader. However when I do my own magazine I will use more cover lines to attract a wider range of people.
Contents Page-Flat Plan
Similarly to the Front cover, I have learned the best way to position my contents page and how I must have enough detail in this section to encourage the reader to want to continue reading. I like how I have used one half of this section to show the content involved in the magazine and the other half uses one large image and two sub images. However on my own magazine I will use more sub images and captions to capture more attention from my audience.

The Briefs
Briefs
When centres choose briefs to offer to candidates, they should be guided by their strengths in terms of resources and expertise. Centres should also bear in mind the key areas: forms and conventions, production contexts, the role of technologies, audiences/users and representations.
The set briefs are as follows:
Print
Preliminary exercise: using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. Additionally candidates must produce a DTP mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasp of the program.
Main task: the front page, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine (if done as a group task, each member of the group to produce an individual edition of the magazine, following the same house style). Maximum four members to a group.
~ All images and text used must be original, produced by the candidate(s), minimum of FOUR images per candidate. ~
